1. Remy vs. Non-Remy
    1. Remy – Cuticles intact, facing the same direction to reduce tangling
      1. Hair will typically have more shine to it and a little smoother texture
    2. Non-Remy – cuticles are not facing same direction, which causes more tangling. Also, some processing will completely wipe out the cuticle, which will leave hair shinier but will have more tangling than Remy.
    3. NOTE: All Human Hair tangles to an extent. No human hair is perfect, that is how you know it is human. Hair that doesn’t have a flaw is almost assuredly synthetic or at least has a synthetic mix.
  2. Single Drawn vs. Double Drawn
    1. Single Drawn – hair that comes from one single donor (person). A woman’s normal hair is not the exact same length throughout. Hair running down her back is going to be longer than hair in the front and middle of her hair, this is normal with human hair. This is why you will get some hairs that are shorter than others; once again this is normal with human hair. (The majority of hair on the retail market is Single Drawn)
    2. Double Drawn – hair that comes from multiple donors. Time is taken to pick hairs from multiple donors so that the majority of the hair (about 88-90%) is the same length. This hair is more expensive than Single Drawn hair because it takes much more time to sift through the hair and match up the lengths.
  3. Raw Virgin vs. Virgin
    1. Raw Virgin – refers specifically to the hair shaved off the head of 14 to 18 year old Hindu Virgins during the Vestial temple renunciation ceremonies.
      1. It is very expensive, about 50-65% more expensive than Retail Virgin Indian hair.
    2. Virgin – This is hair that has not been processed with chemicals in any way since being shaved from the donor’s head. This hair is sold in different grades at the street level (A-C Grade depending on where you get it). Pure Remy uses only A-Grade Virgin Indian Remy in our products.
      1. Notes: Look for word play (100% Virgin, Color 1 or 100% Virgin, Romance Curl)
  4. Processing
    1. Pure Remy uses very light chemical processing when making our textured products.
      1. Easier on the hair and safer for the client
      2. Will naturally fade over 7-14 days.
        1. Chemicals should naturally fade out of the hair over time, if you have to wash the hair multiple times to get the chemical out, the hair has been over-processed.
        2. The hair should go back to its natural state after a while, if it doesn’t you know it is either synthetic mix or over-processed.
      3. Remember, this is 100% Human Hair, it is not perfect (humans are not perfect, neither is their hair).
        1. Curling Irons, Flat Irons, Roller Sets
        2. This is why proper care and using a Stylist is a necessity!
  5. Pure Remy extensions will last 6-9 months (or longer) with proper care, but we do not recommend leaving extensions in longer than 90 days. Hair needs to be cleaned, conditioned and cared for. Leaving hair in longer than this is not good for your natural hair, even if the extensions will last longer than that.
